Life Cycle of Stars :)

After studying the Life Cycle of Stars in a paragraph describe the life cycle of a star, from the time it forms until it dies. All posting must be submitted by Oct. 10, 2010, 11:59p.m. for extra credit consideration.

  1. Stars are formed in a nubula. Gravity gathers gas and dust into a ball the center then becomes so intensly hot that it begins fusion which is a process when subatomic particles clump together into an atom. This creates an average size star or a massive one. After a few million years the star will run out of it's gas and would therefore swell up into a bigger star. An average size star will become a giant and then a planetary nebula. It would then contract and cool into a white dwarf. A massive size star would become a red supergiant, thereafter creating a supernova. After it can either become a neutron star or a blackhole depending on it's size

  2. it is true that if it is a massive star it has a chance of becoming a black hole, black holes has really intense gravitational pull and it pulls all the things that are close to it. i was wondering if what is going to be next after black holes? and in the big bang theory, how did the very dense matter formed? can it be from a really big black hole that pulls all the things in the universe then it just explode?

  3. A star starts out as a stellar nebula or clouds of dust and gas. Next, it forms into an average star or a massive one where heat and light is ejected. Then it forms into Red Giant and the hydrogen runs out and swells red which is cooler. The next stage of the star is a planetary nebula in which the layers of dust and gas are ejected. Last, the star becomes a white dwarf and cools and contracts, where it will then die out.

  4. Hi
Kaitlynn, so what happens if it's a very massive star? how is the life cycle different from average size, star to massive stars?

  5. Hello,
i will just answer your question.
when it is a massive star it will became a super giant and because it is so big, it uses its fuel faster and it ends its life faster too and explode into what you called supernova explosion it may became a neutron star or a black hole.
